TEEN DATING VIOLENCE
What you should know about Teen Dating Violence
Teen dating violence is a form of intimate partner violence and occurs when two people are in a close relationship. Dating violence can include one, or all of the following: physical, emotional/psychological or sexual abuse...to include stalking.
These behaviors could occur in-person, or electronically (such as repeated texting or posting sexual picture on-line) and have both short-term and long-term impacts.
Among high school students, 21% of females and 10% of males have experienced some form of physical or sexual dating violence.
Teens that have been impacted by dating violence are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety, use tabacco-drugs-alcohol, exhibit anti-social behaviors and consider suicide.
